What is the ALSOWISE programme

ALSOWISE is an App designed to help users enhance their proficiency and confidence in the English language. This is critically important for the young student or professional today because English is the global link language for academics and business. Consequently, the ability to communicate confidently and effectively in English is one of the key prerequisites for successful career progression.

The ALSOWISE programme fine tunes the user’s skill with grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension, the three essential building blocks required to master any language. Each week, the user experiences a voice-assisted Lesson, an Assessment Quiz related to the Lesson and a ReadAlong, which is a voice-assisted passage or essay which helps the user at two levels: building topical awareness and imbibing the nuances of sentence construction.

Why is ALSOWISE essential for success

Young students in English medium schools who are imbued with greater proficiency in English will be able to better comprehend every lesson taught in that language and will be able to express themselves more coherently. Hence, a command of the English language will prove to be an inflection point in their academic careers.

For the young working professional, proficiency in English, be it verbal or written, will help translate a clear flow of thought into lucid and cogent communication. This will, in turn, set the young professional apart from his/her peer group and provide an impetus to their executive growth.

How is the ALSOWISE programme structured

The ALSOWISE programme has two tiers:

The Fluency Programme, which spans 25 weeks, is aimed at middle school and high school students. The Lessons have examples which appeal to younger audiences and are infused with humour that is age appropriate. Assessment Quizzes that help to reinforce the Lessons, are always adaptive, tailoring the level of difficulty to meet individual needs. Some of the ReadAlongs are excerpted from the classics, while others are carefully curated essays on topics which would be relevant to the target audience.

The Masters Programme, which runs for 26 weeks, is aimed at young adults and young working professionals. The Lessons may cover a lot of topics which are common with the Fluency Programme but the treatment is clearly meant for more mature audiences. What the Masters Programme offers its users after they have gained proficiency with the basics, however, is a degree of expertise in corporate communication for daily use. By the end of the programme the user will be capable of creating a grammatically correct and lucid communication be it a note of introduction, a covering letter to a job application or a business proposal.
